Board Culture as Strategy:
Tools to Turn Alignment into Action
Session Description:
Culture eats strategy for breakfast—and nowhere is this truer than in the boardroom. This interactive session equips association leaders to spot the hidden cultural dynamics that derail execution (unclear decision rights, performative consensus, fear of accountability) and replace them with practical, behavior-level routines. Using a four-dimension model—Trust, Clarity, Accountability, and Inclusivity—participants will learn to diagnose their own boards and apply three ready-to-use tools. Through authentic stories, peer exchange, and hands-on application, attendees will leave with micro-changes they can implement at their very next board meeting.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Recognize how implicit board norms can block strategic progress.
Apply a simple culture model to identify root causes of dysfunction.
Use three practical tools to reset board interactions.
